Before I jump into this post, I’m going to have to apologise for my recently lack in blogging – over the past two months I’ve basically been a ghost on WordPress. I’m being swamped at work and with my contract coming to an end all my spare time is going to job hunting. In all honesty, it’s pretty stressful and I’m currently off work, suffering from cluster migraines.
I’m hoping that I can get back into the swing of things soon and manage my time better – so if you have any suggestions on organisation techniques you use, I’m listening. Adulting is tough.
A little while ago I was nominated for the Bloggers Recognition Award and I wrote about how amazed I was, in such a short period of time, that the blogger-sphere has such a big sense of community and is so welcoming. This still stands, and I feel truly humbled to be nominated for the Unique Blogger Award by Let’s Talk Anime.
Let’s Talk Anime is an awesome blog on, you guessed it, all things anime. You’ll find lists, reviews and rants on all kinds of anime and you might even find your next show to binge there. They’ve recently reached 100 follows, so a massive congratulations and a big hug and thank you for the nomination (apologies this post is so delayed!)
- Share the link of the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you
- Answer the questions they’ve asked
- In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award
- Ask those bloggers 3 questions
Simple right? Let’s get to it. Let’s Talk Anime’s questions were…
Has there ever been a show/movie/book series that hooked you immediately, or has there been one that took a long time to get into but you now love?
In short, most certainly, and so very often. I binge watch on Netflix all the time, I’m often at the cinema AND I read every day. So yes, so very often.
Starting with TV Show, I’m going to discuss my most recent Netflix-binge. The Sinner is a very dark drama following a young mother figuring out what’s causing her to have violent tendencies – very violent – very public – tendencies. I thought the programme started off pretty slow but then it kind of just throws you into the whole thing, in fact it’s a genius first episode. I would definitely recommend it but as a warning it’s very dark, could be considered triggering and mentally jarring.
Regarding film, I’m a massive fan of psychological thrillers so any of the following a guaranteed to get you hooked: Donnie Darko, The Number 23, Butterfly Effect, Spotlight, and Source Code. (I like Jake Gyllenhaal, can you tell?)
Last but not least, a book. I’m currently reading One of Us is Lying and wouldn’t put it down if it wasn’t for my migraines. It’s so good and had me hooked within the first page. It’s well written, there’s drama and secrets. It’s generally great and I suggest reading it if you love books, I don’t know how it ends yet – but it looks very promising.
In honour of Halloween, I guess, what’s your opinion on horror shows/movies/books, and why?
Firstly, goddamn Charlie, this post is about two months late. Halloween.
I adore horror. Without over thinking it, the Scream films and series are part of my Halloween routine now. I know, I know, they’re not super scary – but they’re classics. Once upon a time they were scary to me and I’ve grown up watching them. In my opinion the movies capture what a horror should be – but you know it’s a movie, it has this script that separates it from reality and it’s so classic. While the programme follows the script, it combines it with modern technology – it’s generally a great addition to the films. So yeah, I guess you can’t beat a typical horror, it’s just exactly how it should be.
What is your favourite genre of all time and why? Or your least favourite if you don’t have a favourite.
There’s a bit of a theme with what I’ve discussed in this post so yes, I definitely have a favourite. Horrors, psychological thrillers, mysteries. I like having to figure something out, I think it adds a massive perk to what you’re reading, what you’re watching etc.
Aaaand onto the nominations. The eight names below are entirely deserving, beautiful blogs and very unique in their own right. Whether they openly speak about mental health, have this incredibly unique shared love for what they’re blogging about or just their distinctive writing styles. I think they’re all great and I’ve linked their most recent blog posts so you can check them out.

Now – my three questions if you choose to accept are:
Firstly, if you were on a desert island – what three things would you want with you?
What is your favourite thing about Christmas/winter time?
And finally, tell the blogger-sphere something they don’t know about you (whether it’s a childhood story, or what a day in your life is like – whatever you can think of)
Thank you again for my nomination, and to everyone for continuing to read my blog.
